A to Z Staffing

Why We Separated Nonprofit Professionals Now and A to Z Staffing

In May 2024, our CEO Agnes Zach decided to split Nonprofit Professionals Now (NPN) into two companies. NPN would maintain executive searches, board training, direct hiring support, and onboarding; and A to Z Staffing, Inc. was formed to manage our temporary services including supporting nonprofits with temporary employees and expanding our interim and fractional placements.

In September 2024, Kaitlyn East-Sanborn joined the team at NPN as Flexible Staffing Director to support Agnes with managing the client and candidate experience at A to Z Staffing.

Why the Change?

Two main reasons:

1. As hourly employees under the NPN corporate structure, we found it difficult to create a benefit plan to support the part-time employees serving in temporary roles that were affordable and accessible.

2. As the number of employees continued to grow through our temporary services, NPN did not have enough internal HR support to meet the needs of our staff.

We chose a PEO (Professional Employment Organization) model at A to Z Staffing to provide additional HR support to our expanding temporary employee pool. This choice is consistent with our belief that there are many ways to acquire services an organization needs and a PEO model fits our business model well.

New Opportunities

Beyond our support to nonprofits, we are expanding our offerings to B Corps and Benefit Corporations. This expansion will provide more stable work opportunities for our existing temporary employee pool while meeting their desire to support mission-driven organizations in our community.

We have incredible candidates in our temporary employee pool who are ready to serve in roles such as:
- Administrative Staff
- Database Coordinators
- Development Associates
- Development Coordinators
- Event Coordinators
- Program Managers

We can also leverage our networks to source candidates with particular skill sets if you have the need. Learn more about our temporary staffing options

We have a growing list of interim executive directors and development directors who are ready to fill in gaps when a full-time hire isn’t right for you. Interims are primed to:
- Provide a smooth transition and help your staff feel supported
- Ensure your organization meets its goals and retains employees
- Mitigate executive burnout
- Provide you access to new expertise and insights
- Lead change management
- Steward a merger, acquisition or consolidation

Fractional staff offer specialized expertise on a part-time basis, providing nonprofits with access to high-level skills without the commitment of a full-time hire. These professionals bring niche knowledge and experience. Similar to interims, fractional staff serve in higher level roles including CEOs/Executive Directors, COO, Development, Communications Director, etc. Learn more about fractional staffing options
